What is HARD WORK and SMART WORK?
For most of the people, the hard work is to work strongly on a task and complete it with maximum efficiency. To become successful, one needs to put all their efforts and energy into it.
For a few people, hard work is giving up on every distraction or things and pay all the attention and focus on the goal that has been set.
While all the things related to hard work are somewhat true, but if the same amount of energy and work is put into the same thing smartly, the goal can be achieved in a shorter time, with maximum efficiency.
So, simply, the smart work is doing the hard work in a shorter time and with maximum efficiency. Smart work is finding the best way out, by having a plan and strategy in place for the hard work.
What is the difference between Hard Work and Smart Work?
Hard Work vs Smart Work… The biggest difference between hard work and smart work is the strategy…or the smart strategy.
If you are working on a thing without proper planning and strategy, the chances of success are low. The strategy should be based on reality. You should have clarity of what you are doing. Clarity can be achieved only if you are analyzing the things from the ground level. People who make strategy without understanding the ground level aren’t doing the work in a smarter manner.
Understating the ground level means that you should know what the actual situation is, who your competitors are, what are they doing to reach the goal, etc. If you do these things, the work will become smart and your success rate will be higher.
Finding the best way out: Example
Let’s take an example of our daily routine. You are leaving home in the morning to reach college on time. You know about the usual road to college and started driving on it.
But on unusual days like a festival, rainy days, etc., this road might be filled with high traffic and you might get late to reach the college. Still, you tried your best, drove faster than usual, keep your feet on the accelerator at the traffic signal, and didn’t receive any call to save a few more minutes. This is your HARD WORK. You gave your best.
But, if you check the shortest route to your college on Google Maps, the traffic on that route, and other such factors before leaving for the college, you can do your work in an efficient manner. You will find the easiest way out and save time and efforts. This is your SMART WORK.
Our Prime Minister Narendra Modi travels here and there, as well as to other countries. He has thousands of tasks in hand, both national and international. What does he do to save his time?
In an interview with Economic Times, he said that he chooses to travel only during nights? Why?
It’s because he can do two things in the same time. 4 hours of travel + 4 hours of sleep = 8 hours.
Smart work is spending only 4 hours to do the same. 4 hours of travel + 4 hours of sleep = 4 hours.
Sometimes, we give our best shot to achieve our targets but still can’t do it or get late to achieve it. This is because of the lack of a smart strategy in place. When we work smart, the success rate becomes higher because we are not running just like that. We know what to do, when to do, how to do, and most importantly what is the easiest and most efficient way to do it.
If you are a student having tons of tasks in hand and not enough time to do it, then set deadlines for each task, set priorities for things, think of alternatives, and best ways to complete work in less time. Smart Work is the key.
